Site Search Engine Value

When someone is searching for information on the internet they type in what they want to know on a search engine and let the engine do the rest. This is the basic premise behind the search engine as they take the guess work out of surfing and bring what is best to the forefront of the web. What few people realize is that just having a very nicely built and functional web site is not nearly enough. It is also not good enough to have submitted the site to the search engine either. Submitting is only part of the equation and not the most important part to be completely honest about it. Search engines need much more than a basic submit to be able to find your site and that is where your site value to the search engine comes into play. All search engines use a ranking system. The number that your site is assigned is based on the relevance to the search that is made. This rank will determine how far down on the list of sites yours will appear when someone types in the words to find a site like yours.

This is all about the ranking and it can be a rather difficult thing to accomplish for a lot of people who are not familiar with the way a search engine works. In most cases the search engines do not use live people to look at the sites for rank determination. This would take way too long as there are literally millions of sites being created everyday and then submitted to the search engines. Instead, the search engines use BOTS, sometimes referred to as spiders to look over your site and determine the words that will have to appear in a search for your site to show up. So for instance if you sell tropical fish then the spider would rank your site among all of those that sell tropical fish. This is the job of the spiders as they are designed to crawl around and find the words that will point to a site. This in turn works to help the people that are searching for those words to find all of the sites based on the words that the spider finds on your site. With this method the search engines can be constantly updating and thereby bringing the best results to the people that use their services.
